EXPOSIÇÕES > Teatro e Marionetas de Mandrágora

Sandra Neves Puppets

A constant search for discovery, the materials of figures, imagination, an engineering of chaos, the transformation of the improbable into artistic matter. The scale and origin of form are merely glimpses of a constant quest to find a universe of her own, consistent with the personality of its creator.

We could say that Sandra Neves is a set designer, visual artist, and puppeteer, but we believe that words would fall short, so Sandra Neves is a creator of images that materialize through her objects.

The Trupe Fandanga project introduces us to the engineering of the small, the illusion that the whole lies in the smallest detail, when in fact the whole is made up of many details, none of which are insignificant. A solitary creation to which other artists are summoned, but which we understand, always converges on the artist's inner universe.

Teatro e Marionetas de Mandrágora has been collaborating with the artist for several years now, and it is always a privilege and a pleasure to be able to engage in dialogue with such sincerity and honesty, which are so characteristic that it seems to us to be of such simplicity that the most unwary will not understand the immense creativity that lies behind such a sensitive being.

The exhibition has an audio guide. Access to the audio guide will be via cell phone or tablet, so please use your own headphones.

In 2024, Teatro e Marionetas de Mandrágora will be expanding the content it offers, taking into account ongoing accessibility demands. In addition to the audio guides developed for the exhibitions, we began a gradual process of adapting our graphic content. This adaptation aims to follow standards and use fonts that make reading easier for the elderly, children, and people with dyslexia, thus reinforcing inclusion and accessibility for a wider audience.
