International Puppet and Object Award - Mar~Marionetas


From 2014 to 2017, the Festival Mar~Marionetas held four editions of this competition with the aim of promoting this artistic genre, fostering the art of puppetry and animated forms and promoting the recognition of its creative builders. This competition has established itself as a benchmark initiative in the field, with recognized interest and cultural relevance.

Teatro e Marionetas de Mandrágora has decided to continue the competition in 2025, maintaining its commitment to internationalization. So the “International Puppet and Object Award - Mar~Marionetas 2025” returns, and it is with great pleasure that we resume an initiative previously embraced by the festival: the creation of a prize for excellence for the artist often hidden behind the scenes, visible only through his object - the puppet.

This exhibition will feature the winning puppets from the first four editions and several puppets competing in the 2025 edition, including the winning puppet from the current edition.


The exhibition has an audio guide, as well as a piece dedicated to people with visual impairments. Access to the audio guide will be via cell phone or tablet, so please use your own headphones.

In 2024, Teatro e Marionetas de Mandrágora will be expanding the content it offers, taking into account ongoing accessibility demands. In addition to the audio guides developed for the exhibitions and the tactile display dedicated to blind audiences, this year we began a gradual process of adapting our graphic content. This adaptation aims to follow standards and use fonts that make reading easier for the elderly, children, and people with dyslexia, thus reinforcing inclusion and accessibility for a wider audience.
